Woven Daydreams

To say the only creative thing that I do is knit would be a lie. In fact I would be lying straight through my teeth! Another hobby I enjoy doing is weaving! Does anyone weave anymore? I'm the only person that I know who still weaves! Anyways, my father deals with antiques, and he came across this nifty little hand loom. It's larger than the 2-inch hand loom that some people still use. I really enjoy weaving on it. And unlike knitting, it's instant gratification to me. It only takes me about 5-10 minutes (depending what's on TV), for me to weave a square.

So I'm working on a throw blanket. For some reason I'm taking my sweet time with it. I've been working on and off at it for a couple months now. If I really focused on it I would already be done, but unfortunately that's not the case. I wanted to make a throw blanket for my Fiance and I for when we get an apartment together! That probably won't be until late winter/early spring, so I have plenty of time to finish it. But I'm very excited for when it will be done!! I can't help but daydream about me and my sweetheart cuddling up under it while watching TV. Or maybe he will be reading a book while I knit. Either way, they are very warm and happy daydreams! Let's hope his job hunt goes well so he can move back to RI and be with me!!

As of right now the colors of the "blanket" are tan and black. That will change. I will be adding red and white panels into it as well. The yarn is %100 cotton. I normally don't work with %100 cotton (only wool), but I am absolutely obsessed with it for this project!!

INTENSE WEAVING! I had my stitches a little too tight when I first learned how to weave, and I ended up snapping the hand loom while trying to thread the needle through. Handy Dad to the rescue! He came and fixed it for me with some plastic stuff. Whatever! It works now (thanks dad!)

Aw ain't we cute?? Taken about 4 hours after he proposed to me.

Sweet October

Happy October everyone!! My favorite month out of the whole year!!! I can tell my spirits are up and I'm incredibly happy because it's October. Within the past two days I have done very Octobery things! Yesterday I made a WONDERFUL apple pie with my mom! I haven't tried it yet, but after dinner tonight we will all be sitting down to a nice piece of apple pie with whipped cream on it!
Apples apples apples!!!

I looked down to see that an apple was smiling at me!

My mom, and the pie we worked so hard at!

Finished! If heaven had a taste, it would taste like apple pie!!!

I love apple pie. It is one of my favorite desserts in the whole world!!! Today, to add to the October-festivities, we went to get some pumpkins to decorate the farm with. Unfortunately we didn't have any pumpkins this year. The harvest died about halfway through the summer. Next year we have to plant in a different location. But we are planning on going bigger. MUCH bigger. But there's this great place near my house that has really cheap pumpkins and squash! Some of their stuff is really funky!

These are snake gourds. GIANT snake gourds! So big they had to hang them from a tree!

And this is giant squash!!! They were almost as big as me!

My day wouldn't be complete without some knitting-related adventures. And lucky for me I stumbled upon a little ad in our local paper about a yarn shop! You see, living out in the middle of nowhere makes it a little difficult to find some great yarn shops, so I was totally ecstatic when I read the ad, and had to go right away! It was a teeny tiny shop run out of a house, but they had some great yarn! And a fantastic selection of natural fiber yarn (my favorite type). And their prices were extremely reasonable. Here's what I ended up with:
5 skeins total. 2 skeins Lush Angora wool yarn in an emerald green/blueish color.

2 skeins of Berroco 53% New wool/47% Acrylic yarn. I'm thinking of making some gloves or mittens out of these bad boys!

One skein Aslantrends 85% merino wool/15% polyamide. It's got a beautiful earth tone to it with lots of blues and browns and greens.

Thanks Sue!

Buying yarn is an addiction that I have to avoid. My wallet wasn't too pleased with me. BUT, I should be set for awhile with yarn! Now I just need to finish my scarf so I can get started on new projects. Like those gloves I want to make :)

green peach green peach green

ALAS! My newest project. A very bright scarf. I bought this yarn about a  year ago and was waiting for the perfect project. I'm not sure if this is the project I had in mind, but I was desperate to use it! I figured the color combo was pretty interesting too. For some reason this scarf remind me of Old Navy. I'm not sure why. I'm hoping to be done with this by the weekend. Now that all my photos are done for my clients, I will have plenty of free time to knit! HURRAH!

For anyone who knows how to knit this is a super simple pattern. Here's how I did it:
Co 24 stitches
Row 1: Knit w/MC
Row 2: Purl
Row 3: Knit with CC
Row 4: Purl
Repeat from Row 1 until desired length.
Mine is a little over a foot long so far.

I think I've been procrastinating for so long to use this yarn because it's just so darn pretty! I wish I could make a pair of mittens to go along with my scarf but I don't think I will have enough left! :sigh: Knitting crisis. Either way, mittens will be my next project. Or glittens? I've yet to try either, so it should be interesting!
I'm so glad the cold weather is rolling in. Perfect time to cozy up and knit. It has been raining for the past 3 or 4 days, and will be raining all day tomorrow. Unfortunately because I had so much work to do, knitting had to become a night time sport. While I sat in front of the tv half asleep. But not tomorrow!!! Tomorrow I will be knitting!
